  • Is chiropractic effective?

Chiropractic helps to remove postural imbalances and structural misalignments that accumulate in our bodies, and it restores your inborn ability to be healthy.

To maintain your health, the nervous system must function well and be free from interference. The chiropractic adjustment restores spinal function, removes nerve interference due to misaligned vertebrae, and allows optimal nervous system performance and better health.

A chiropractor doesn’t just address back and neck pain. Chiropractic care keeps the body at peak performance through nutrition, adjustment, and overall wellness.

  • What is a subluxation?

Subluxation occurs when vertebrae become misaligned or move out of normal position. Causes may include things like minor slips or bumps, car accidents, or any sudden trauma.

Pressure applied to nerves, blood vessels, and surrounding tissue due to subluxation is harmful because it interrupts the natural pathways used by messages sent from the brain. These need to be clear to function properly.

  • What should I expect during a visit to a chiropractor’s office?

Your first visit is about getting to know the chiropractor and discussing your history, current condition, and goals.

  • How does chiropractic care work?

An overall way of looking at the human body, chiropractic is based on the idea that the body is self-sustaining and self-healing.

The body is controlled by the brain through its connection via the spinal cord and the vast neural network in the body. When the system doesn’t work, the body doesn’t perform well.

Chiropractic doesn’t use drugs or other medicines to treat pain. Supplementation and nutrition are almost always a part of the bigger picture. Drugs and prescriptions are bandages used to treat the symptom instead of the problem.

Chiropractors treat soft- and hard-tissue problems like sciatica and joint pain, as well as help conditions like fibromyalgia, allergies, insomnia, headaches, and more.

  • What is a chiropractic adjustment? Is it a safe practice?

An adjustment, or a manipulation, is the minor movement of spinal vertebrae for realignment. Causes of misalignment range from daily activities to car accidents.

Misaligned vertebrae have a systemic effect from the muscular to the central nervous system. Because misalignment interrupts the flow of all nerves and systems between parts of the body and the brain, peak performance is unattainable.

Typically, an adjustment uses pressure from the chiropractor’s hands or an instrument to move vertebrae back into place. It’s quick and usually without discomfort.

You may hear a noise that sounds like cracking knuckles known as joint cavitation. This is the release of gases, such as oxygen and nitrogen, from the joint.

  • What results can I expect from treatment?

Chiropractic is based on removing structural and postural imbalances to let the body self-heal.

For this to happen, the network of nerves and signals that go from the brain, down the spinal cord, and to the neural network must be able to flow freely. Chiropractors treat interruptions and misalignments and let the body perform as it should.

If you’ve ever been in a car accident, played a sport, fell, or just bumped into something too hard, you may be misaligned.

While there are several potential mechanical or structural causes, there are chemical reasons too. If you smoke or drink excessively – or even eat poorly – the chemical issues in your body can lead to underlying conditions and diseases.

Allowing a chiropractor to get you back on track will lead your body back to proper wellness and performance.
